The traveller was active; he went strenuously in search of people, of adventure, of experience. The tourist is passive; he expects interesting things to happen to him. He goes "sight-seeing." ~Daniel J. Boorstin

Greenpoint was one of the interesting neighbourhoods we saw on our Brooklyn bike tour. Sadly there are no pictures because it was raining the whole time!

Before going to Europe, Grey and I were excited to rent bicycles and ride around different cities. In both Paris and Berlin, we took tours with Fat Tire Bike Tours. There are many to choose from, but the tours we did were about 4 hours long, with a break in between. In Paris we went to Tuileries Garden for lunch, and in Berlin we visited a beer garden for a nice lunch and of course some beer!
After our bike tour in Paris, we decided to venture out on our own, and we rented bicycles from the bike share, Paris Velib. You’ll need a credit card with a chip card to reserve a bike, and though it seemed a little complicated at times, after a few minutes we had our bikes out and ready to hit the streets! You can pick up and drop off at different locations, and it’s pretty cheap to use. 1 day or 7 day subscriptions are available if you’re just visiting. They are definitely well used, and are a great way to see a city!
